Dear Buffaloes,

I attended the PLC meeting for Will and these are some of the topics we discussed:

Troop Hat – the vote is leaning towards a camo hat with mesh in the back with a one size fits all feature and maybe a patch or two.

2008 Summer Camp – The PLC wants to go to a coast somewhere for more water activities (the activities would probably be better than the ones at Slippery Falls.  Nobody wants to go back to Slippery Falls).

Mr. Landry is leading the troop to be more high adventurous when everyone is eligible – 13 or 14 years old and higher. That means that there will be a lot more hard work, but it will be a lot more fun.

Also, from what I’ve heard, Chain-O-Lakes will be a blast.  We will be doing a lot of water activities.  We will finish the swimming merit badge, doing canoe introduction, and fishing.

The Buffaloes will be doing the cooking for the campout.  Mr. Y’Barbo worked with the scouts to help plan the meals.  Please make sure you do your part to make sure we all eat.

Most of us should be close to finishing the T21 requirements.  Please check your handbooks and make sure they are up-to-date so everyone will be ready for a rank advancement at the August 26 Court of Honor.  I asked my Dad what we need to do to get complete, he said to check with our Troop Guides (Brian W, David R, Cody F, or Nick B) to get things checked off, or see Mr. Y’Barbo or Mrs. Thompson to ask them for help.  When you are finished with all the requirements in a rank, you can ask Mr. Y’Barbo or Mrs. Thompson for a Scoutmasters Conference. After you have done your Scoutmasters Conference, everyone needs to go to the Troop website to request a Board of Review meeting for the rank you have finished.  You go to the Troop Home Page on the right side under What’s New and click Board of Review Request Form.  Fill out the form and my Dad said that Mr. Zarella will make sure enough Troop Committee members will be present to meet us on July 29 or August 12 when the Board of Reviews are scheduled.  The Troop Calendar says that the deadline for the July 29 Board of Review is July 26, and for the August 12 Board of Review, the request deadline is August 9.  I filled out my request to see if it works.

Check out the Troop Calendar on the website as often as you can.  It may change some based on the decisions made at the PLC meetings.

Parents – Please let the scout read this email.  Thank you.

John
